DMV Permit Practice Test — Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 12, 2026 · Applies to app version 5.4.0 and later

This policy describes what DMV Permit Practice Test collects, what it does not, and how to have your data removed. It is written to match what the app actually does — if you find a difference between this page and the app, treat it as a bug and tell us.

The short version

The app has no accounts and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, address, photos, contacts or location, and we have no way to find out who you are. What we do collect is anonymous usage and crash information that helps us fix what is broken and see which parts of the app people use.

This version of the app shows no advertising at all and does not use your device's advertising identifier. The advertising permission has been removed from the app itself.

What we collect

The app also reads your operating system version on the device to decide which features are available. That value is used on the spot and is not sent anywhere.

What we do not collect

Advertising

Earlier versions of this app showed ads through Google AdMob. This version does not. No ad is requested or displayed anywhere in the app, the advertising SDK is never started, and the Android advertising-ID permission has been removed from the app package. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the store listing will say so.

How we use the data

Only to run and improve the app: to fix crashes, to see which study features are used and which are ignored, to know whether a purchase went through, and to measure whether changes we make actually help. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to the app.

Deleting your data

In the app: Settings → Clear data erases everything stored on your device — progress, mistakes, settings — and also resets the anonymous analytics identifier, so anything collected afterwards is not connected to anything collected before.

By request: write to [email protected] and we will delete the analytics and crash data associated with your installation. Because the app has no accounts, please send the request from the device in question or tell us roughly when you installed the app, so we can identify the right records. We answer deletion requests within 30 days.

You can also turn off analytics collection entirely by uninstalling the app; no data is collected once it is removed.

Retention

Firebase Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Purchase records are kept for as long as the purchase is active plus the period our stores require for refunds and accounting. Data on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the app.

In-app purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your card details. A weekly subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your store account; a lifetime purchase is a single payment that never renews. Cancelling is done in Google Play or in your Apple ID settings, not in the app.

Children

This app is a study aid for a learner's permit, so many users are teenagers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all. If you believe a child's personal data has somehow reached us, write to us and we will remove it.

Your rights

California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so in the past twelve months. You may ask what we hold about your installation, ask us to delete it, and you will not be treated differently for asking.

EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR). Analytics and crash reporting rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it; purchase processing is necessary to perform our contract with you. You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

For any of these, write to [email protected].

Who else sees the data

Only the service providers named above — Google (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics), Qonversion, and the store that processed your purchase — and only to the extent they need in order to provide their service to us. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism offered by that provider.

Security

All data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Study content and your progress live on your own device. We hold no database of users, because there are no user accounts to hold.

Links to official state manuals

The app links to the official driver's manual published by each state's motor-vehicle agency. Those are external websites that we do not control and whose privacy practices are their own. Opening one takes you out of the app; what happens there is governed by that agency's policy, not this one.

Not a government app

DMV Permit Practice Test is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency, including any state DMV or motor-vehicle department. It cannot issue a permit or a licence and does not process official forms. The full list of the official sources our study content is based on is at teamof3andd.com/dmv/official-sources/.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page before the change reaches users, and change the effective date above. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
